Driver’s Education

Students who were scheduled to be enrolled in 4th quarter Driver's Education courses will be able to fulfill the state requirement while operating within this remote learning experience.  Mr. Rothrock’s google classroom will be established by April 6, 2020.  Students are expected to enroll as soon as possible into this digital portal.

Of note, students will not earn the required instructional hours if they receive an incomplete on any assignment or project.  Coursework assigned within google classroom will have flexible timelines.  Assignments and projects will be uploaded at the beginning of each week and students will be asked to submit proof of completion by the end of each week.

The behind-the-wheel portion of the course will be completed within a timeline that is appropriate considering the circumstances of safety and availability.  Instructors will drive with students when the access restrictions are lifted in a sequence that takes into account student birthdays. The permit test will not be able to take place until direct supervision by the teacher is approved.

Teachers will be utilizing a revised grading scale while operating in this remote learning experience.  Students will have the ability to redo, revise, and improve upon all of their graded work.  Teachers will provide timely and appropriate feedback, and will work to communicate the learning objectives through a diversity of methods.

Students who do not meet the above mentioned requirements will be enrolled in Driver’s Education courses at Shelbyville High School during the 2020-2021 school year.
