Recognition of the Class of 2020 - Lake Shelbyville - 4:00pm

Students will wear their cap and gown attire while participating in a drive thru community recognition.  All senior level students will be organized and spaced 6-10 feet apart on the sidewalk adjacent to the Lake Shelbyville Dam.  This area is protected by a guard rail with the lake serving as the scenic backdrop.  The Army Corps of Engineers and the Shelbyville Police Department are involved and approving of this arrangement.  Traffic from throughout the community will navigate the designated area offering recognition and acknowledgement of the senior class on their previously scheduled graduation date. Students should report to the Visitor Center parking lot between 3:30pm-3:45pm.  The community recognition will begin at 4:00pm and conclude at approximately 5:00pm.  At no time during this arrangement will there be a large gathering of people absent of the current social distancing recommendations.  This time arrangement will allow students to go have a meal with their family members at the conclusion of the experience.

A letter from the principal and the senior video will be shared on this date via social media and student gmail accounts. The senior video will be a compiled collection of baby pictures and senior photos set to music.  If you have not done so already, please email corresponding photos to tynanj@shelbyville.k12.il.us

Baccalaureate

Shelbyville High School is encouraging all of the individual religious organizations throughout the community to explore unique ways to recognize and support the graduating class of 2020.  We will not host a traditional Baccalaureate at the high school this year, but we remain humbly committed to all future partnerships.

SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT

format dependent upon social distancing restrictions and healthcare guidance

June 20, 2020 | 7:00pm @ Shelbyville High School

Many of our senior level students need to be informed of the scholarships and financial assistance that will be available to them as they embark on their journey outside of high school.  With this in mind, we will plan to have some version of Senior Awards Night on June 20, 2020.  If social distancing and healthcare guidance allows for a traditional experience, we will pursue that path.  If this is not allowable or recommended, Senior Awards Night will continue to take place on this date with a digitally adapted version of the experience.  Additionally, a detailed list of all scholarship and award recipients will be provided at the graduation ceremony.   Regardless of the scenario, a professional videographer will produce a quality production to be shared with family and friends.

PROM

July 18, 2020 | 7:00pm | @ Shelbyville Event Center

    • We will be coordinating an alternate date for Prom with the Shelbyville Event Center.  The school district will fund this experience with assistance provided by the Post Prom Committee and Tad Mayhall (National Guard / Edwards Jones Investments).  There will be a handful of post prom activities scheduled for after the event.  If social distancing restrictions are still in place on this date, or if healthcare guidance prohibits gatherings of this sort, the event will be cancelled.  It will not be rescheduled in this scenario.

GRADUATION

June 27, 2020 - 7:00pm

Traditional Ceremony on the Shelbyville High School Football Field. The event will be broadcasted via radio, facebook, and youtube video.  Social distancing recommendations will be in adherence at this school event.  A professional videographer will produce a quality production of the experience to be shared with family and friends. Additionally, all families will be provided with a complimentary 8x10 photo of their graduating senior, and a digital copy of the production produced by the professional videographer.

July 25, 2020 - 7:00pm

Alternative graduation date if restrictions and healthcare guidance is not relaxed by the previously scheduled date of June 27, 2020.  We will plan to have a traditional ceremony on July 25, 2020, in lieu of June 27, 2020, if necessary.  Social distancing recommendations will be in adherence at this school event.

In the scenario that a traditional ceremony is not possible on this date either, school officials will make arrangements to proceed with a digitally adapted version of graduation. The event will be broadcasted via radio, facebook, and youtube video.  A professional videographer will produce a quality production of the experience to be shared with family and friends.  Additionally, all families will be provided with a complimentary 8x10 photo of their graduating senior, and a digital copy of the production produced by the professional videographer.
