Message | Mr. Ladd, SHS Principal

Throughout the closure we have remained hopeful that many of the ceremonial senior events could take place in their traditional format.  Much of the planning for such a scenario involved coordinating diverse plans within an incredibly inexact time frame.  Although we were hopeful, we have also been preparing for the realization that these events may not be permissible, or in keeping with the health regulations that are in place.

At this point, we have come to accept the fact that these ceremonial events will have to be altered in light of the guidelines established by the Illinois Department of Public Health (RESTORE ILLINOIS FRAMEWORK).

With the wish to keep you all as informed as possible, we are sharing these updates to help you plan and prepare your summer schedule.  We are doing our best, and we know that you all are as well.  Once more, thank you to all involved for being so amazing and inspiring throughout this entire experience.  Although some of this information may be inconvenient, or potentially upsetting, we have full faith in the resiliency of our students, their parents/guardians, and the Shelbyville community.  Please do not hesitate to reach out in correspondence if there exists a need for further clarification.

SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT

June 20, 2020 | all scholarship and award recipients will be announced utilizing a digital format on this date.  There will not be an IN-PERSON EVENT.

Many of the students have already received notification from the various scholarship selection committees.  We will formally acknowledge all of the scholarship information that we are aware of while planning this digital experience.

June 22, 2020 | The high school will host a drive thru pick up of all awards and scholarship materials from 11:00am - 1:00pm.  If you receive an award, please plan to drive through the circle drive during this scheduled pick up.

PROM

We made arrangements trying to preserve this special event, but they have become increasingly unrealistic in review of the most up-to-date governmental and health regulations.  As has always been the case, we have remained in contact with multiple organizations within our community.  The path forward in this regard is simply not possible when reviewing the five-phased plan established by the Governor's Office.  With this in mind, there will not be a school sponsored PROM.

GRADUATION

July 25, 2020 - 7:00pm

Shelbyville High School | Football Field

The prior date established in June for traditional graduation will be rescheduled for JULY 25, 2020.  We will plan to have a traditional ceremony on July 25, 2020, in lieu of June 27, 2020.  School officials will work to plan and prepare for a ceremony that is in compliance with the regulations that are established by this point in time. In the scenario that a traditional ceremony is not possible on this date either, arrangements will be made to proceed with a digitally adapted version of graduation.

GRADUATION PRACTICE FOR ALL SENIOR STUDENTS & JUNIOR MARSHALS WILL TAKE PLACE ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 22 FROM 1:00pm-2:30pm.
