On Wednesday, students will have an outdoor experience during the afternoon.  All grade levels will have an open campus/extended lunch hour on this day (11:00am-11:57am).  That does include freshmen.  If you do not want us to allow your student to leave the campus, please call the SHS office at 217-774-3926.  Rules and expectations will be further communicated to students on Tuesday during homeroom.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child with this experience, please reach out to school administration as soon as possible.

Students should dress for a day of outdoor activity.

The school district will provide: 20 kayaks, 13 mountain bikes, and 20 paddleboards.  Other recreational equipment will be provided as is available.  Of note, if your child wants to guarantee that they will have access to a specific activity, they should bring their own equipment.  Lifejackets and biking helmets will be provided.  This safety requirement has been communicated to the students.

ATTENDANCE:  Students will meet and park at Community Cove (High Water Boat Ramp) at 12:00pm.  They should check in with their 5th hour teacher for attendance purposes.   All students will check out at the same location between 2:30pm-2:45pm.  Bus transportation will be provided to students without a vehicle.   We appreciate your help and support as we try our best to get kids engaged in outdoor activity.   We have a beautiful community.  Please encourage your children to make responsible choices, to be good stewards of the land, and to enjoy this unconventional school experience.
