K w/ SHS Football TEAM

The SHS Football TEAM did make the IHSA playoffs w/ round I this Saturday, October 28th @ 1:00 PM @ HOME!

On Friday, October 27th, the SHS Football TEAM arrived @ the Kindergarten playground to interact w/ our K-TEAM before school.
The vision was for positive role models to model self-control, kindness, communication, etc... & provide positive interactions w/ encouragement.

K kids loved throwing a football, showing the players that they can do the monkey bars, getting pushed on the swing, dancing to music, racing players, seeing their jerseys, etc...

When the whistle was blown to get k students lined-up, organized, and regulated to enter the school, a SHS Football rep. addressed the K students w/ a few words to pump them up & let them know that what they are learning now in Kindergarten is important.

Mrs. Patti Tynan (Music Teacher) then led the K students in the Shelbyville Schools “Fight Song!”

Then, the SHS Football TEAM lined-up like a tunnel & high-fived the K students as they traveled in a line to enter the school.

I find it interesting that most of these current SHS athletes were once Shelbyville Kindergarten Center students on that very playground.
I believe we want our younger kids w/ a vision & goal to be wearing a Shelbyville uniform & modeling the Shelbyville way.
This is a good way to start the process of showing them what that looks like.
This was a valuable experience for the SHS athletes as well. They are in a position to positively influence & they accepted this role w/ pride.
