9-25 Dolly Day at our Middle School!
We had so much fun celebrating “9-25” Dolly Day today! Our students created their own Coats of Many Colors, filling them with kind, encouraging, and uplifting words for one another.
Our staff also enjoyed filling their “Cup of Ambition” with a little Dolly-inspired fun!
A huge thank-you to our high school band for treating us to a special performance of “9 to 5,” and to the high school art club for helping us decorate our fabulous Cups of Ambition!
It was a day filled with kindness, creativity, music, and plenty of Dolly spirit.
“Working 9 to 5” and having a whole lot of fun doing it!

Shelbyville High School is hosting an informational presentation tonight. Specialized representatives will be here to talk about the topic of FAFSA completion. This is especially important, relevant, and helpful to seniors and their parents. Junior class students and parents might also want to attend. The presentation will be held in the auditorium at 6:00pm. Applicants can fill out their FSA ID in the system this month. The new FAFSA application will be released on October 1. File by Thanksgiving, because limited aid budgets run out early. Filling out the FAFSA, or completing the waiver (available in the SHS office), is a graduation requirement in the State of Illinois.

The seventh and eighth grade teachers at Moulton have started wearing shirts representing colleges and careers to expose students to the many options they have after high school. So far, Lake Land College in Mattoon and Eastern Illinois University in Charleston have shared t-shirts, pens, and pamphlets. Each week, we would like to share information about a business or career path available in our community. Thank you to those who have reached out and agreed to help us.

ATTN: Parents & Students.
Many of you are aware, by this point, that Clinton High School canceled their varsity football season. That contest was set to be our Homecoming football game on 10/2. Although this is unfortunate, it is outside of our control. All other homecoming related activities will proceed as planned (parade, bonfire, dance, etc.). We are working to develop a fun and exciting alternative for our kids and community on the 10/2 open date. Homecoming Week activities run from Monday, September 28 - Saturday, October 3. Go Rams!

The high school is a construction zone right now, and will be for most of the months of June and July. The gymnasium is shut down while we remove and replace the old bleachers. The main entryway, the circle loop, and the office are also unavailable as of today. We are working to reshape that design. Please use the student parking lot entrance if you must enter into the school building. Room 308 will serve as the temporary point of contact for in person communication. Email is preferred for all other correspondence. We are also working to set up a direct phone line, but that has not yet been established. Thank you for your patience and understanding. - Kyle Ladd (SHS Principal)
LEADERSHIP: “The Student Role”
Main Street School & Kindergarten Center acknowledges that the ideal school & vision is one in which there are strong student-leaders. We should use them in leadership roles. The students have a role in this school. We have to make sure they have strategies and know how to lead & have “the green light.”
May Leadership students were announced Wednesday, May 27th & identified with teacher & peer input.
Students will be recognized in the “Hall of FAME” for next school year as well.
THANK YOU, Vonda McConnell & MoMo’s FroYo, for sponsoring this Student-Leadership FOCUS.
